History's Dumpster = GLORIOUS trash! Kitsch, music, fashion, food, history, ephemera, and other memorable and forgotten, famous and infamous pop culture junk and oddities of yesterday and today. Saved from the landfill of time...
You probably don't instantly think of your grandma's favourite magazine when it comes to audio equipment. But it is true. Reader's Digest really did sell stereos, radios and tape machines under their own brand name in the '60s, '70s and '80s.
I have that Reader's Digest shortwave radio!! My wife's dad got it back in the day. It's really quirky to tune but it's fun to haul it out every now and then and spin the dial and see what comes up.
And, they also made some very lovely easy listening box LP sets...:)
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention easy listening. Tomorrow's post is all about easy listening music.....
DeleteWhat company make these for the magazine?
ReplyDeleteI would think Sanyo. But it could be any anonymous Japanese electronics firm.
