Just too many people! Or getting any kind of directly impacting bad news. There's also the social awkwardness of anxiety, which makes life pure hell in school.Larry Waldbillighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09251746085990599751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-987738695581729895.post-57823581633045414782014-08-13T01:41:48.678-07:002014-08-13T01:41:48.678-07:00Hi Larry,

Often times letting go of something that you have been carrying around for so long can be liberating. I appreciate your candor (and your taste in forgotten oddities!) I have suffered from generalized anxiety disorder since high school, had a really rough time in grade school and middle school, and I am in my early forties now. While I have never had to deal with the crippling depression you described I at least can relate to the general vicinity from which you come and I can really relate to the frustration and shame at the hands of folks who think you can 'just snap out of it'. Thanks for sharing this about yourself, it's always good to know that there are others out there that we can all relate to! Take care man,

Kurt - and please don't stop curating! I love this blog!Guestronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10549840801069427500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-987738695581729895.post-91600278493318725592014-08-12T23:43:09.855-07:002014-08-12T23:43:09.855-07:00Thank you. I, too, have been dealing with suicidal depression - in my case since junior high school, with marked improvement in college and the years afterward, but then a huge, disabling return following a very difficult period at work in the first few years of the century.

In my case, the depression, PTSD, anxiety and insomnia have conspired to bring about a major social phobia, leaving me more or less a shut-in over the past 10 years, although a variety of meds and ongoing therapy have surely helped me not take my life.

I almost always avoid any media reports dealing with suicide, and discussions of the same, but felt compelled to make a brief comment here, after reading your words.

Let me close by saying that over the past few months, I've really come to look forward to the postings on your facebook page, and count on them to stir some happy memories out of the fog. Thank you!

Bob B. in PhiladelphiaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
