Dudley's Easter Egg Colouring Kits

Remember Dudley the Easter....whatever it was....?

In the 1970s, you pretty much had two choices for Easter egg colouring kits. The cheap and traditional, but lame Paas kits (or the similar Chick Chick kits.)

 Or the more expensive and more interesting Dudley kits.



Dudley kits had more artistic variety, such as swirls and glitter.

But Dudley always resembled some 40something bachelor guy sitting next to you in a sports bar that you probably talked to after a few strong drinks. Not so much a cute fluffy bunny rabbit we associate with Easter.

Perhaps noticing this, the makers of Dudley gave him a makeover, Now he doesn't look like a fat cross-eyed buffoon.

 
But really, the "new" Dudley is.....Well....A little too cutesy?

Wanna (Virtually) Go Back To 1976?

 

Today is of course, April Fool's Day. And today from 6am-6pm EDT/3am-3pm PDT, WMOH 1450 AM, a talk radio station out of Hamilton, OH (Cincinnati area) turns back the clock to April 1, 1976. Reuniting their air staff of that year and playing 1976 music, 1976 commercials and news of the day. Should be interesting. Go to their website to tune in and enjoy!

The Oso Landslide Disaster of 2014

 

I do not normally talk about tragedy on this blog. A fun pop culture nostalgia blog titled History's Dumpster really isn't an appropriate forum for that.   

On Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:37 a.m., a massive landslide devastated the tiny unincorporated village of Oso, Washington. With 26 confirmed dead and 90 still missing as of this writing.

Oso, Washington is located between the small towns of Arlington and Darrington on the north fork of the Stillaguamish River in north Snohomish County, near the Skagit County line in northwest Washington State. I've been through Oso several times and while the place looks very sparse (it's only retail is a tiny general store, with a lumber mill and some farms), it's population is near 200. Over half are missing or dead. And no picture can do this justice

What I do want to talk about is how you can help. The recovery effort needs your help. And so does Oso.
