So far, we're up to 6 stations, with another 2 more stations in the works. Please contact me at my website, QEZradio.com, if you might be interested in doing an online EZ/BM station for your area. This is the only history I've ever seen in print of the rise and fall of the easy listening format and you did a great job - really enjoying this blog. In Cleveland where I grew up the two big FM easies were WDOK and WQAL with WJW on the AM side where every Sunday my parents would make us all listen to the "Journey into Melody" program. And yeah, they had a LOT of Ray Coniff and Percy Faith albums in their collection. Great memories.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03434645623403313401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-987738695581729895.post-55752495139397507262014-07-04T23:16:55.366-07:002014-07-04T23:16:55.366-07:00These days, I can't think of a more anti-estab...These days, I can't think of a more anti-establishment form of music out there today THAN Easy Listening. It's been gone from the airwaves for over 20 years in most areas, but love it or hate it, a lot of people miss it.... Let me tell ya, if not for them, I might not have those Reader's Digest or Longines Symphonette box sets in my record collection. I probably woudn't have the job I do, either: that station got me into TV. The radio station got sold and flipped to soft rock about 20 years ago, but they also had a TV station. They still do. I worked there for 3 1/2 years.

And I can tell you that part of why Music Box Dancer was such a hit is probably because the colorful little AM station a mile and a half down the highway signed off to it every night...just as I did. And yes, they used the Frank Mills version. Which I have in my collection for sentimental reasons.Keeper Of Recordshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09184574764994803475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-987738695581729895.post-56154268329691467852014-07-04T10:30:43.798-07:002014-07-04T10:30:43.798-07:00That wasn't unusual as most radio stations wer...That wasn't unusual as most radio stations were far more responsive to listener input in those days. But more than that, if the station's long time local advertising accounts began closing with not many, (if any) replacements to fill their time slots, that was grounds for a reconsideration.
